Wuxia Novels: An Introduction đŸ“œ

Hi there! So, yeah i’ve been away for a long time. I was at home for the first few months (vacation, you know~) then I started training for work afterwards and I haven’t watched any anime until just recently! Can you imagine that? Sucks to not have a strong internet connection in the countryside. You’d wait a long time to load an episode and i’m a person who hates waiting so to pass the time, I tried looking for other things to do and know what I found? (english-translated) Wuxia Novels! Have you ever tried reading Chinese novels? If yes, ever heard of wuxia? Well, today this post will be dedicated to chinese novels, particularly the wuxia genre.

Kira is Back! đŸŽ‰

Hi everyone! This is my first post since last year, so it’s over a year now. Gah, It’s been that LOOONG. Did you miss me? 😉

I suppose most of you must have forgotten about this mushroom-like person (me). *sobs* That’s fine though. You’ll probably see me more often in twitter from now on but I guess i’ll keep being a mushroom here in my blog because i’m already working now. Right! I’ve got my first job and I was out training for the past few months. I can now buy lots of anime merchs and stuff. Hooray!

Speaking of anime merchs, I plan to attend COSMANIA, the very first anime convention event to glory in my presence. Lol. It will be on Sept. 30 – Oct. 2 and I will be going with my dear friend Rose Regine. Fellow Filipino (or foreign, if you’ll attend) anime fans, see you there! Gotta ready thy pockets. 💸

Anyway, I still have a lot to catch up on with anime. Backlogs increased for the last year I was away and I’m now accepting recommendations for animes you think is worth being the first on my to-watch list.

Btw, I’ve already watched Kimi no Nawa and Koe no Katachi. Ah, two very good movies indeed! Koe no Katachi was the very first anime movie I watched in the cinema and it’s really worth it. Love both the manga and the movie. ❤

So, any news you wanna share? It’s been so long i missed everyone here. 😀

Temporary Goodbye

Hi guys! It’s me, Kira, reporting my current status. Hahaha! Honestly, i wanted to post something worth reading along with this update but nothing comes out good enough. Until now, that’s been the case. Haha. (I planned to post something for a few days now) Thinking of interesting topics to write about, i’m not really very good at. My drafts had been piling up but i can’t seem to finish one. *sigh*

Anyway, it’s already the start of my review for board exams, today tbh. And so, i am going to temporarily stop posting in this blog. I may have already told some people here but Yup, i’ll be going on hiatus for 5-6 months. Just until the end of my review, probably. My twitter account @kiraerls will still be a bit active so anyone who wants to contact me can DM me there.

I’m a bit sad that i won’t be able to read posts from anyone i follow here. Watching anime and reading manga will also be lessened a lot, if not stopped during the duration of my review. The next coming months will be one of the hardest and probably the most stressful months of my life but wish me luck guys! I’ll be a certified engineer after all this hardship! (Considering that i’ll pass the exam) Hahaha. I’ll miss this blog and you all. See you after a few months. 😘:)👊👋

Reminiscing Childhood Anime

It’s not uncommon to hear people say that “You’re too old to watch anime!” or “Anime is just for kids.” Well, it’s true that anime are often associated/mistaken with cartoons. I’ve seen this issue discussed countless times in blogs, forums and social networks. Even I had an experience of educating my Mom about the difference between the two. But i’m not here to list the unlikeness of one from the other. Yes, anime’s like a more elaborate and artistic form of cartoon and it’s catered to a variety of audience (depending on the genre). Yes, it’s not only for kids (coz yeah, i’d be a kid if that’s the case) but it’s actually something that is greatly associated with childhood—or at least with mine.

15 - 1

I know some anime fans encountered/got into anime not during childhood. Some says its during high school, college or even at work. Well, that’s too bad. As someone who only had books and TV as entertainment during childhood, i can say that i grew up with those afternoon and weekend ANIMEs. Those moments of hurrying home just to finish my assignments (my mom’s particularly strict with that) on time for the airing brings a smile on my lips. I don’t actually know that they’re ‘anime’ at that moment. I may have mistaken them as cartoons too but those beautifully-made animations saved me from the sickness-inducing boredom of my childhood.

Now if you ask me what my first anime is, i won’t be able to answer because i honestly don’t remember what. I’ve been watching anime even before i started reading or writing. I remember having a matching shirt and shorts of Sailor Moon which i really love. I was about 3 or 4 years old (1998 or 1999) that time, can you imagine? I haven’t re-watched Sailor Moon since elementary school though so i only vaguely remember the story.

90’s Anime

Of course, among the first few anime i remember is the all-popular Dragon Ball where spiky hair and shouting makes you stronger. Hahaha!  I’ve always hated the lengthy transformations of mecha anime like Voltes V and Daimos back then. There were also those strange, sometimes cute, animal-like creatures from Monster Rancher, Pokemon and Digimon; action animes like Samurai X, Virtua Fighter, Zenki, YuYu Hakusho, Flame of Recca and Hunter x Hunter; magical girl transformations from Magic Knight Rayearth, Wedding Peach, Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne, Pretear and Ojamajo Doremi; other shoujo love stories like Fushigi Yuugi, Inuyasha, Marmalade Boy, UFO Baby, Mirmo and Cardcaptor Sakura; even the classic Cinderella Monogatari, Anne of Green Gables, Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Princess Sarah, Little Prince Cedie, Remi and Little Women; and some others including Slam Dunk, Cooking Master Boy, etc.

So do you also know these animes? Have you watched them? I think there are still some that i can’t remember at the moment but well, you really can’t expect me to remember everything i’ve watched since then but you can probably see just how long i’ve been into them. I don’t remember most of their stories but i’ll always remember just how much i like them individually.

Exploring a New World (News)

Hi there!

Okay, you might be wondering what this post is about coz of the title but it’s actually nothing much. I’ll just be breaking the news to everyone, followers and friends, who hasn’t heard of the news yet. I’ve made a twitter account @kiraerls and it’s up to you to follow me (it’d be great if you do). ^^

I also want to thank again these two friends of mine, Rose Regine and Shiroyuni for inviting me into the twitter world. I’m just kidding when i said you two should take responsibility. Haha. It just dawned to me that my objective and also the tagline for this blog which is ‘Exploring New Worlds’ coincides with your intention to introduce me to this new environment.

At first I was a bit reluctant in joining twitter coz [another news] i’ll be going semi-hiatus next month (May) in this blog. Yup, i know i just started here but for a while i’ll be focusing on my review for my board exam on October. This board exam will be one of the most important events in my life as passing it will make a great impact on my future job and future life as well. I guess i might not be able to post here on my blog during that time but it’s gonna be easier for you to contact me and for me to know what everyone’s up to on twitter.

So that’s it. I’ll still be active until the first week of May, i guess. Ja ne~

Amazing Reads: Manga Edition

Hi there! It’s me again, Kira. I haven’t really been posting anything exclusively related to manga so i think it’s high time i start to. As you may have known, i am an avid fan of reading and manga’s are among the media i have an obsession with. Here are some of the many amazing and unique manga’s i am currently reading coming from various sets of genres.

Personal Update: Life Events

Hello guys! It’s already April, one month away from my GRADUATION DAY! *throws confetti* Yes, just a bit more and i’ll be saying goodbye to my school life. I don’t know if i should be happy or sad with this realization but for now i’m just tired.

Well, we actually don’t have classes anymore but this past few days had been full of events. Just this Monday we facilitated a series of seminars for our batch and our underclassmen. I’m not part of the committee in charge of the event so i was just there as a listener. I’ve always liked going into seminars coz most of the time they are more interesting than regular classes. Or maybe the speakers of the seminars i’ve been to are just good at doing their job.

We had a Recollection on Tuesday. It’s a whole day event. Don’t know what recollection is? From the word itself, it’s recollecting past events and it has to do with strengthening your bond with family, friends/classmates and God. It’s actually an event where most people, girls and boys alike, gets emotional. It was just like a seminar at first. Then they had us watch some tear-jerking video clips about families and relationships. Afterwards we had an activity where we can make a letter addressed to our parents while there’s a sad song playing in the background. Well, who wouldn’t get emotional? I’ve actually steeled myself beforehand coz i don’t want to cry. Fortunately my preparation worked and at most i was just teary-eyed. Looking up did the trick, haha. Some of my friends and classmates were sobbing one after the other and it’s obvious (from their almost red eyes) that the others are just like me, trying not to cry. It’s actually a tradition for graduating students (in high school or college) to attend in this event.

There’s actually nothing tiring about those two days, you ask? Yup, coz the tiring event happened just this morning (Wednesday). It’s mandatory for the graduating students of our university to attend the tree-planting event aside from the recollection. We were given one seedling per person and truthfully speaking, planting it isn’t very hard to do, just that we had to climb up a mountain to get to the place. It’s not really that far coz i think we only walked about 1 km up however, it was really hot during the day (it’s almost summer here) and the worse thing is that it rained really hard the night before so the road up was very muddy and slippery. Some students really did slip in the mud but no one was badly hurt. Thankfully i didn’t slip but the mud on my shoes was very disturbing.

We have the day off today (it’s already past midnight). My classmates were thankful that they can get their beauty rest coz on Friday we will have our graduation pictorial while i’m here planning on sleeping late as usual.

P.S. News came in that i’m graduating ‘With Great Praise,’ if you know what i mean. Haha. I haven’t really confirmed it yet from our chairman but it’s great news. XD
